The latest Writing Battle began late last night and my mind has been occupied by the prompt I received ever since. I’m not sure if its against the rules to post exactly what it is (judges can’t be allowed to find out which story I wrote), but I can say that it is a thought provoking one. I think I’ll stick with what I got on my first roll. I can tell you my genre, which is my preference, sci-fi. Having a good prompt right off the bat saves a lot of time, but the prompt has so much breadth of possibility that I haven’t gotten a story down yet. I’m planning on getting some words down tonight before I go to bed, then probably getting up in the morning and deleting all of them seeing as that’s how its been going lately.
I’m excited to see what everybody comes up with this time around. We’ve got one week to get a 1000 word story in, and like the first battle I entered, this one is judged by a panel of professional authors. Their feedback was pretty good last time, and I’m hoping they’ll really buckle down and give everybody more feedback this time. A couple of paragraphs is great, but I wouldn’t complain about a longer feedback format. I’m sure the feedback I get from peers will be more than enough to make up for any shortcomings though.
Anyway, I’ve got work to do!
Thank you for reading,
Benjamin Hawley
