Day 549: Andor Season 2 First Impressions

I started watching the second season of Andor today, and I came in with huge expectations from what we got in season 1. I think it is easily the best modern Star Wars and I’m happy to say I have not been disappointed. Season 2 starts with a huge bang, evolving quickly from espionage to action to survival and back again. Its two parts rebellion, one part political thriller and all suspense. It takes itself as seriously as a heart attack, something I wish more of the artists behind Star Wars would do a lot more often. When the humor does poke through the surface, it’s just that much funnier because of it. None of the dramatic tension is ruined by cheesy one-liners or shamefully poor dialogue. The ships are cool again. The characters actually make logical decisions (unless it wouldn’t make sense for the character to do so). It pains me to have to mention all those things, but frankly its become the norm for Star Wars to have none of these fundamental principles on its side. I’m so excited to see the rest and I think I’ll dive back in right after this is posted. So glad to have some good Star Wars again!

Thank you for reading,

Benjamin Hawley
